It’s a crime that has never been publicly disclosed. During the civil war in Tigray, Ethiopian soldiers were allegedly guilty of stoning.

The conflict pitted Tigray, a region in northern Ethiopia, against the federal government for two years, until the November 2022 peace agreement in Pretoria. A bloody war that could have left up to 600,000 dead, according to the African Union (AU). Experts also suspect genocide. However, even today, we still don’t know all the atrocities committed. In an exclusive report, RFI was able to document the stoning of ten civilians in the village of Mayhaydi in early 2021.
