Subject: Humanitarian Emergency in Tigray – Appeal to Restore U.S. Aid

Dear U.S. Government Leaders,

We, the undersigned Tigrayan individuals and civil society organizations, write to urgently appeal for the full and immediate restoration of U.S. humanitarian aid to the Tigray region of Ethiopia. The recent freeze on USAID funding, while aimed at reforming global aid practices, has had catastrophic consequences for innocent civilians, particularly the displaced, the elderly, women, children, and survivors of war.

Today, in displacement camps, families survive on drastically reduced rations. Starvation-related deaths have already been reported. Critical health programs—such as HIV treatment, maternal care, malnutrition interventions, and support for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence—have been abruptly suspended. As a result, thousands are now at risk of preventable death, disease, and irreversible trauma. Read more…
