The Commission of Inquiry on Tigray Genocide (CITG) has published an extensive report describing the widespread destruction in Tigray’s social sector caused by the war that started in November 2020. The assessment, carried out across six zones and all accessible woredas/districts, estimates the total damage and losses at around USD 10.86 billion, with the education sector being the most impacted. This report provides one of the most detailed accounts to date of the scale, nature, and impact of the destruction, as well as the broader socio-economic effects of the war, blockade, and siege on Tigray’s social systems. The findings highlight the urgent need for coordinated recovery efforts involving government agencies, communities, and development partners, emphasizing the importance of substantial investment and capacity-building to restore services and foster long-term resilience. CITG stresses that this report should serve as a strategic guide for post-war recovery, based on survivor-centered principles and aligned with international standards of justice and development.

  1. Really, Good work. Let’s use this document as an opportunity as a funding tool from various international governmental and non-governmental organizations”. I will see volume II soon.

  2. I appreciate what CITG is doing. Keep exposing the massacre, rape, and destruction the federal government is trying to hide.

  3. It is good to document the genocide like this timely; one day it will be used for key decisions !! Keep documenting phasd by phase!

  4. I appreciate CITG’s efforts to shed light on the situation in Tigray. It’s essential to expose the truth about the human rights abuses, violence, and destruction that have occurred, and to hold those responsible accountable. The actions of the federal government, Amhara militias, Fano and the Eritrean government and its military should be thoroughly investigated and reported on.

  5. So happy to see this…I can say, you produced independent report, fulfilling professionalism…Stay Blessed !
